Have you already noticed that we have made new acquaintances at Dots this fall? Here is the first of them.
JUST Female, or JUST among friends, is a super-cool brand from Denmark that has taken us Dotsians by storm!! JUST is the "little sister" of the already familiar Second Female, whose style also exudes Danish roots and foundations. The Danish designer Penille Andersen is behind the brand, who at the age of 26 got the chance to start her life at the head of Second Female's sister company, which has already achieved a strong status. JUST started in 2007 and since then has equally established its place in Danish fashion circles. What made us Dotsians fall in love with JUST again was their renewed ethical world of thinking and their investment in sustainable consumption. JUST's Sustainable Choice collection made our representative's heads spin and socks spin!
JUST has strong roots in Copenhagen. The city's culture, street styles and Nordic design are clearly visible in the brand's design work. Each collection and design is based on three keywords: cleanliness, sophistication and modernity. Based on these basic ideas, JUST strives to create easy "wearable fashion" that consists of good materials and impressive details. JUST's passion is to create contemporary yet timeless fashion and they are not afraid to use modern cuts in their products. With their help, JUST can create exactly that contemporary and modern feel for classic products.
In the words of DOTS Main Babe Tiina, "It's just so COOL".

About responsibility:
JUST started its own Sustainable Choice collection in 2018, and the proportion of these products in the entire production is constantly being increased. According to Andersen, the current goal is for 50% of JUST's entire production to utilize sustainable materials, and that the proportion is constantly being increased as production develops. But what are these "sustainable materials" that JUST utilizes?
Organic cotton
Organic cotton is harvested without toxic pesticides, artificial fertilizers or genetically modified seeds. Thus, it is a more environmentally friendly alternative to regular cotton.
Recycled polyester
In recycled polyester, PET chemical collected from plastic bottles is used, with the help of which the material can be made into fiber. By utilizing PET chemicals, the polyester manufacturing process takes half as much energy as the production of regular polyester, and on top of that, the material can be recycled and reused again and again.
Lyocell
Lyocell is a model example of sustainable technology. It is an organic synthetic fiber made from wood pulp, which is produced using nanotechnology. All possible solvents and other emissions that are formed during the manufacturing process are either reused or completely decomposed (broken down into their elements). It is also 100% biodegradable!
Cupro
Cupro is a material that is formed as a by-product of the cotton manufacturing process, i.e. waste. It is a 100% biodegradable and plant-based material that is easy to recycle and reuse.
Better cotton/BCI cotton
BCI cotton is not organic cotton, but behind the material there is an organization whose goal is to improve the working conditions of the people working with cotton and at the same time reduce the environmental impact of cotton production.

JUST's ethical thinking and sustainable materials extend not only to their clothes, but also to other details. JUST's packaging is made from either factory waste or biodegradable material. The labels of the products are made of FSC-certified paper, and the neck tags, washing instruction lamps, etc. are made of recycled polyester. However, JUST's world of thought is not only visible in their material choices, but also in their way of working. JUST is involved in sponsoring the local Plant a tree organization, whose goal is to plant 1,000 trees in Denmark every year. A portion of the proceeds of their WE CARE collection goes to support this organization, and in this way they also play their part in protecting the environment.
It's a great mood, isn't it?
For us at Dots, ethics and sustainable development are close to our hearts. This is why we want to offer you as many sustainably and ethically produced products as possible. However, we also strongly believe in beauty, and it has been a pleasure to notice that in 2020 you don't have to choose between a trendy and a sustainable product. We can have both! We women are notoriously bad at choosing between two good options ;)
JUST is just one example of beautiful and sustainable fashion. We will be introducing more of these brands and products chosen by heart during the current autumn.
PSST!
