Material information
Responsible materials that appear in the Dots selection:
Recycled polyester (Recycled polyester):
Recycled polyester is made from already existing plastic. There can be several sources of plastic, such as plastic water bottles. The manufacturing process of recycled polyester uses 33–53% less energy than manufacturing completely new polyester, and the fiber can be reused many times over.
Organic cotton/organic cotton (Organic cotton):
In the production process of organic cotton, less water is used than in the production of conventional cotton, and the method also produces less greenhouse gases. In addition, no toxic pesticides, artificial fertilizers or genetically modified seeds have been used in the production of organic cotton. Some of our brands also use GOTS-certified cotton, which is considered the toughest standard for organic textiles. GOTS certification means that the material must be 95% organic fiber, bleach, formaldehyde or other toxic substances must not be used in the production, the material must be dyed with a non-toxic dye, and the material must be manufactured in a place where both workers and the environment are taken care of.
BCI cotton (BCI cotton/Better cotton):
Behind BCI cotton is an organization whose goal is to improve the working conditions of people working with cotton and at the same time reduce the environmental impact of cotton production.
Ecovero viscose (Ecovero Viscose):
Ecovero-certified viscose is made from controlled and certified wood fiber. The manufacturing process of the material uses significantly less fossil energy and water than in the production of traditional viscose. This is why viscose is certified with the EU environmental label.
Lyocell:
Natural, artificial fiber made from wood pulp, which is produced using nanotechnology in a laboratory. All possible solvents and other emissions that are formed during the manufacturing process are either reused or completely decomposed (broken down into their elements). Lyocell is also 100% biodegradable.
cupro:
Cupro is a material that is formed as a by-product of the cotton manufacturing process, i.e. waste. It is a completely plant-based and 100% biodegradable material, which is also easy to recycle and reuse.
Seawool:
Seawool is a material that is made from plastic bottles collected from the sea, oyster shells (surplus from the food industry) and cotton fiber. The result is a soft and warm material with a minimized carbon footprint.
