In 2004, two Danish women Jeanne Sissel Thomsen and Christina Edelbo Petersen founded a brand called SISSEL EDELBO, the core of which consists of recycling vintage sarees and love for Indian culture. The friends have been traveling to India for almost two decades, picking the most beautiful recycled vintage saris themselves to guarantee their customers the most beautiful patterns, colors and the best quality. Since then, they have shaped from woman to woman – a cultural fabric, bringing new life to it with modern cuts and silhouettes, so that the story of the clothes could continue for a long time.
The brand owners consider India a very rich country both culturally and as their source of inspiration. Their vision is to produce unique pieces of clothing, each of which tells a story about India's heritage and its wonderful women. Each product is unique and different both in terms of weaving and quality, but most importantly: all SISSEL EDELBO products are produced environmentally friendly in India from recycled clothes, keeping the emissions of the production process low.
As a sustainable brand, they do everything possible to minimize waste. The idea behind the ZERO WASTE concept is to use all recycled fabric and leave nothing to waste. Surplus fabric left over from clothing production is used to make smaller products, such as bags, belts and scarves.
